TKH provided programming, planning, and schematic design services for the Mercy Hospital St. Louis Breast Center. Mercy Hospital St. Louis is a 750 bed facility and a regional tertiary care hospital. This is a “state of the art” Breast Imaging Center on the main campus. The 8,000 square foot facility includes digital screening and diagnostic mammography, ultrasound, and diagnostic needle aspiration.
Beginning with the private living room style waiting, the Breast Center is designed to separate the different patient populations of screening vs. diagnostic testing. The organization of the suite facilitates the patient’s ability to move from main waiting into test specific changing facilities, directly into sub-waiting. From sub-waiting, patients move directly into the exam rooms without having to use a corridor. This arrangement is provided for both screening and diagnostic testing to maintain privacy and minimize cross traffic for each patient population.
