TKH was engaged by SBLH to provide volume analysis / projections, programming and schematic design for their Surgery service line. The entire department of approximately 28,000 SF was renovated in a multi-phased project to provide larger operating suites, private prep and recovery rooms for outpatients and better organize the outpatient surgical patient flow. 8 OR’s were enlarged along with its central supply core. A total of 35 prep and recovery stations, using a combination of enclosed rooms and bays, were provided to serve both inpatients and outpatients. Improving the patient experience for surgical outpatients was a major priority of this project which required adequate provisions for waiting and arrival space, private prep and recovery rooms and dedicated patient discharge / pick-up zones.
