Inpatient Divisions 5600 and 5700 continued the renovation of the fifth floor at St. Luke’s Hospital. With a combined square footage of 21,500 SF, the first phase was where the patient rooms and patient toilet rooms received new finishes. In addition, each room received a custom headwall cabinet that was installed to hide the medical gases when not in use. Two of the patient rooms received a new whirlpool tub, bringing the total up to four for the Division.
In the central core of the floor, a new nurse station was created which combined the staff for both Divisions 5600 and 5700. Adjacent to the new nurse station, two new nurseries were provided. With easy access to these nurseries and the adjacent Special Care Nursery, staff have shorter travel distances between the areas.
